The training event will begin with a 1-day training on Behavioral Threat Assessment and applying structured professional judgment tools–the WAVR-21 and Dechefr–in threat assessment and management. Participants will be supported to gain an understanding of Behavioral Threat Assessment and challenged to consider the nuances, contexts, and contingencies that enable practical, effective, and compassionate threat assessment and management. Students will also be supported to develop skills in the use of SPJs in threat assessment.

The second and third days will build on the concepts from Day 1, utilizing case-informed, practical exercises.  Advanced concepts will include effective intelligence gathering, managing emotional contagion, mitigating ancillary conflicts, leveraging the threat assessment process to inform threat management strategies, communicating threat assessment findings, and creating cultures of safety.

If attending the Structured Professional Judgment Tool training (Day 1), the authors of the WAVR-21 recommend that you purchase the WAVR-21 Manual (which comes with 5 coding packets) in advance. WAVR-21 Manuals are not included in the price of the training. WAVR-21 Manuals and additional coding packets can be purchased HERE

The trainings will take place from 8:30 a.m. until approximately 4:30 p.m. Eastern time on each day (with a break for lunch). Lunch will be provided.  In-person training will be held at George Mason University, Colgan Hall – Verizon Auditorium, located at 10900 University Blvd, Manassas, VA.

Virtual Attendees: A Zoom link will be emailed 12 to 18 hours before the training to the email address you provide on your registration form.

There are up to 21 hours of ASIS, APA and SHRM Continuing Education Credits available.
